Mon­i­tor wa­ter us­age to de­tect leaks

WA­TER me­ters across the re­gion will be read over the com­ing months for the half-year pe­riod end­ing De­cem­ber 31, 2015.

Childers and sur­round­ing ar­eas will be read in Novem­ber and De­cem­ber, and Gin Gin and sur­rounds in De­cem­ber.

The coun­cil will en­deav­our to ad­vise ratepay­ers in writ­ing if wa­ter con­sump­tion is con­sid­er­ably higher than nor­mal, as that may in­di­cate a wa­ter leak on the prop­erty.

Ratepay­ers are en­cour­aged to mon­i­tor the us­age and check the wa­ter me­ter read­ings regularly to de­tect pos­si­ble leaks.

Should ratepay­ers ex­pe­ri­ence a wa­ter leak, they may be el­i­gi­ble for re­lief from the re­sult­ing higher than nor­mal wa­ter charges.

For the safety of the coun­cil’s wa­ter me­ter read­ing con­trac­tors, ratepay­ers are re­quested to en­sure dogs are se­cured within the prop­erty bound­ary.
