Month to remember

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion -

SEPTEMBER is Dementia Awareness Month. According to Alzheimer’s Australia there are currently 342,800 people living with dementia in our country. Three in 10 people over the age of 85 have dementia and an estimated 1.2 million people are involved in the care of a person with dementia. The affect of supporting a loved one with this disease is life changing, as it is for the person living with dementia. Support and education are available. It is through awareness and education that stigmas are removed and community attitudes are changed, so that anyone who is impacted can still live a full and meaningful life.
