Nom­i­nate for Aus­tralia Day

NOM­I­NA­TIONS for the Aus­tralia Day Spirit awards have opened and the re­gion is en­cour­aged to take part.

The Bund­aberg Re­gional Coun­cil is call­ing on the com­mu­nity to nom­i­nate a res­i­dent de­serv­ing of recog­ni­tion for the 2016 Aus­tralia Day Spirit Awards.

Mayor Cr Mal For­man said the pres­ti­gious awards were an im­por­tant com­mu­nity ini­tia­tive.

“Each and ev­ery day across our re­gion there are res­i­dents achiev­ing great things and putting the needs of oth­ers ahead of their own,” he said.

“These peo­ple don’t ask for any­thing in re­turn for their ser­vices to the com­mu­nity so it’s up to friends, fam­ily and col­leagues to en­sure they get the recog­ni­tion they de­serve,” Cr For­man said.

This year has 11 award cat­e­gories, with awards avail­able for in­di­vid­u­als, groups, busi­nesses and events.

Nom­i­na­tions close Novem­ber 13.
