Broadhurst St gets an upgrade
MAJOR reseal preparation works will start on Broadhurst St, between the Bruce Hwy and Delany Crt, in Childers later this month.
Main Roads Wide Bay/Burnett district director Scott Whitaker said works involved rehabilitating the existing road and placing a new bitumen spray seal.
“Works will provide a smoother road surface and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance,” he said.
Locals can expect associated disruptions at this location and preparation works are set to occur from Tuesday, September 15 to Thursday, September 17, between 6am and 5pm, weather permitting.
The project team will return to the site towards the end of the year to place the final seal, which will waterproof the pavement and ensure durability.
Mr Whitaker said traffic controls, including reduced speed limits, temporary intersection closures, detours and traffic controllers, would be in place for the safety of motorists and road workers.
“Road users should expect delays, are encouraged to drive to changed conditions and obey all signage and traffic controllers’ directions,” he said.
Nearby residents and businesses have been notified of expected impacts, including some access disruptions, noise and dust while works are under way.
“We will work closely with the contractor to mitigate these impacts as much as possible. We thank the community in advance for its patience and understanding,” he said.
