Panthers take home the win
THE Panthers feasted on a Wallaroos team devoid of direction in the reserve grade Bundaberg Rugby League grand final.
Unable to get any drive forward because of Wests’ pressure and intensity, minor premiers Wallaroos slumped to a 28-12 loss in the biggest game of the year.
Eddie Booth was dangerous for Wallaroos but his contribution alone was never going to be enough against a well-drilled and motivated Panthers team.
Skipper James Wilkinson was excellent at fullback and his ability to direct traffic from the back field help his team get the win.
Luke Owen’s ball movement was impressive at five-eighth and when he was getting in behind forwards Terrence Franks, John Ellis and Wade Abbott there was plenty of momentum for the Panthers during the game.
Wallaroos showed some fight late in the game, despite not having the ball, but it was too late.
Todd Campbell from Wallaroos and Abbott had early showers after being sent from the field in the 34th minute, but the result was beyond doubt and Wests were worthy winners of the premiership.
Wests: 28 (J Ellis 2, A Dunphy, C Ryan, L Eade tries; L Owen 4 goals) d
