Vandals damage town

Isis Town and Country - - News - By JODIE DIXON

CHILDERS has had a spate of wilful damage complaints made to police since Saturday.

An unknown person or persons in the region spray-painted graffiti and tagged vehicles and buildings. Senior Constable Sharon Morgan said: “I have taken two reports on Tuesday and one on Saturday.

“Someone is going around town and spray painting various ‘tags’ on anything they can find. So far two vehicles have damage, the showgrounds and the school.”

The Catholic Church was a target for vandals, with vulgar language used and tagged on the church sign.

Childers police are urging the community to report any wilful damage caused by any graffiti artist.

“If you notice anything out of the ordinary, report it to the police,” Senior Constable Morgan said.

Police are concerned by the damage and are investigating the incidents.

Senior Constable Morgan said: “We have contacted retailers around the area asking about recent paint purchases. We urge parents to keep an eye on their children during the holidays.” The police say they are disgusted by the behaviour of the perpetrator or perpetrators and are investigating all leads. Police urge locals to report any damage.
