Gro­ceries up for grabs for win­ner

THE Lions Club raf­fle was drawn last Satur­day morn­ing with the win­ner no­ti­fied by tele­phone shortly af­ter 9am.

Harry McKay was the lucky win­ner of the IGA Gro­cery Grab.

Mr McKay was sur­prised to re­ceive the phone call in­form­ing him of his big win.

The sur­prised win­ner’s first words were “You’re jok­ing me!”

“I can’t be­lieve I won. I’m in shock,” he said.

The own­ers of Childers IGA, Bruce and Deb Ma­honey, were de­lighted to sup­port the Lions Club and happy to hear the win­ner’s re­ac­tion.

“We con­grat­u­late Mr McKay on his win­ning ticket and we look for­ward to the gro­cery grab at 10am to­day at IGA,” Mr Ma­honey.

The com­mu­nity is en­cour­aged to join in the fun and to sup­port the win­ner by cheer­ing him on in the mad­ness of the 90-sec­ond dash around the store.

“I want to thank the en­tire com­mu­nity for sup­port­ing the raf­fle and the vol­un­teers for tak­ing the time to sell tick­ets,” Mr McCon­nell said.

All pro­ceeds raised in the raf­fle sup­port the ef­forts of the Childers Lions Club.
