MEM­BERS en­joyed a sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion spon­sored by the club. Norm Plath scored 37 points to win the day from Adrian Martin, run­ner-up on count­back from re­cent triple win­ner Len Stal­lard. Other run­downs went to Peter Hut­ton, Damien Dowl­ing and Ross Ni­col (35 each). Larry Per­shouse (7.78m) won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot on 1&10 and Jack Smith (3.28m) the B Di­vi­sion ap­proach. On 4&13, Kev Sav­age (3.03m) won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot and Len Stal­lard (1.09m) the B Di­vi­sion pin­shot. This Satur­day the Vet­er­ans’ Golf As­so­ci­a­tion will spon­sor the day – come and en­joy what will be a mem­o­rable af­ter­noon/evening.

WOMEN

MAR­GARET Den­nett recorded 40 points to win the Ladies’ sta­ble­ford on Thurs­day. Lisa Cooney was run­ner-up with 36 points. Joan Wright won the ladies’ ap­proach, her sec­ond shot 3.31m from the hole. This Thurs­day mem­bers will play a ran­dom draw for a two-per­son Am­brose. Kerry Sch­nack won the sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day with 40 points from He­len Ric­cia­rdi on 37 points. Kerry (0.55m) also won the ladies’ ap­proach on 4&13. This Satur­day the Vets’ golfers are spon­sor­ing the day – plenty to look for­ward to dur­ing the af­ter­noon/evening.

THIS week again many play­ers emerged with top scores in both Di­vi­sions in the sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion. In A Di­vi­sion Bill Cowan played to his age to earn 39 points and win on a count­back from Peter Hut­ton, with Kev Sav­age third on 36 points. In B Di­vi­sion Len Stal­lard al­most pulled off another win but was frus­trated by Jen­nifer McKay beat­ing him on count­back with 37 points, Joan Wright third with 36 points on count­back from Peter Withers. The ap­proaches were won by Ki­eth Rule (0.10m) for the men on 1&10; Len Stal­lard (in the hole) for the com­bined ap­proach; and Marg Den­nett (0.57m) for the ladies on 6&15. Len man­aged to lead the Chook Run win­ners with 29 net, from Mick Ryan, Kev Sav­age, Terry Small­man, Peter Hut­ton and Cyn­thia Draper (all with 33 net). Next week is the Ian and Jen­nifer McKay spon­sored V.I.P. Day, our monthly stroke event and also the fi­nal round of the Jan Mun­gomery Salver. Re­mem­ber that on Satur­day, we are spon­sor­ing the main club’s sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion. If pos­si­ble bring a plate for af­ter the game. Oc­to­ber 11: Sin­gle Sta­ble­ford-Back Nine – To­day saw 25 play­ers turn up for a Sin­gle Sta­ble­ford game with great weather to greet them. The wind did pick up some­what but those in the know kept the ball low and the scores re­flected that. Win­ner of the day was Ray Bur­rows on 22 points and los­ing 3.5 off his hand­i­cap, Bob Fraser pipped Peter Ma­cauley for sec­ond on a count­back with 21 points and lost 2.1 and Peter of course came in third also with 21 and lost only 1.4. The B Grade Ap­proach was won by Hoss Eberl who also man­aged the Men’s Ap­proach on the 15th. The A grade Long­est Drive was won by Col Den­nett and the B Grade Long­est Drive by Stu­art Aitchi­son. Paul McCar­ragher won the Near­est the Pin on the 13th and has the Golden Cir­cle at 3.125m and also took out the Com­bined Ap­proach on the 16th. Next week we will have a Stroke and Putt game over the Front Nine, tee off at 7.30am and please be at the ground and fill your cards in be­fore 7.15am. There is a sheet to put your names on for the Her­vey Bay Away Game on the 25th with lim­ited bug­gies avail­able so first in first served. If we need ex­tra bug­gies mem­bers may be asked to bring their own to make up the num­bers. A sep­a­rate sheet will be supplied next week for mem­bers go­ing to the Away Game to put their meal pref­er­ences on so I can or­der them in ad­vance. Have a great week and see you all on Sun­day.
