RUNNING FOR COUNCIL

CANDIDATE for Division Two in the local government elections.

I wish to announce my intention to nominate as a candidate in the upcoming local government elections.

Having lived almost my entire life in the Isis district I am a very proud local resident. I feel that Childers, and the other small communities in our region, are sadly being overlooked and left to fend for themselves.

Our rural communities are the backbone of our country and they should be receiving more attention and support than they currently are.

My life has taken me on an interesting journey and I feel that all of these experiences will help me to do the job of a councillor.

My life skills have been gathered from being a wife, mother, banker, teacher aide, retail worker, JP, marriage celebrant and former committee member of several local organisations.

In 2014 I fought the hardest battle of my life when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This battle taught me the most valuable lessons and has completely changed my outlook on life. Life is to live. Don’t sit on the sidelines. Get in there and have a go. Make it happen. That is what I am doing. It has always been a goal of mine to represent our incredible community. I will do my best to listen and to communicate.

I am not going to make promises that I will be unable to keep. I want to listen, learn and work hard to be an effective councillor.
