AAAAW! Poor Stephen Bennett! Bennett and the rest of his LNP mates trainwrecked Queensland’s economy with vicious job and service cuts to regional Queensland. He and the rest of his deceitful mates lied shamelessly to Queensland at the 2012 election. “Public servants have nothing to fear from an LNP government” proclaimed Bennett’s hero, Campbell Newman, in 2012. Then Bennett and his mates sacked 25,000 public servants and shut down vital regional services. Now he’s howling because Queenslanders punished the LNP for their tawdry lies at the last election. And the LNP and Mr Bennett’s response? Some acknowledgement of their destructive deceit? Naah! He and his mates want to change the election rules now. They put up legislation to give five LNP rump seats four to five times the say at elections than the rest of us. They want five western electorates to have just 8000 voters and all other electorates to be 35000+. Too arrogant to acknowledge the damage the LNP brought to regional Queensland, they now want to revert to the gerrymander Bjelke-Petersen made famous and cheat their way back to government. Bennett’s tawdry opinion piece bemoaning the failure of the LNP to rort our voting system (Isis Town & Country Nov 5) reminds one of a little kid chucking a tantrum because they can’t get their own way. Why don’t you just have a great big howl, Mr Bennett – remind Queensland why they turfed your pathetic mob out on its ear.
