Mayor Mal Forman, chair of the Local Disaster Management Group , said unsettled weather patterns were of a deep concern to many residents across the region who had vivid recollections of the flood and tornado disasters of 2010/11 and 2013.

“This meeting with the BOM staff is a great way for those attending to hear first-hand the BOM outlook for the season and understanding the weather events that may impact areas where they live,” Mayor Forman said.

The meeting will also reinforce key messages on how to adequately prepare for severe weather events to ensure personal safety and added security for property.

The Get Ready for the Wet Season information evening will be held at the Civic Centre Supper Room on Monday, November 16, commencing at 6pm. Complimentary supper is available on arrival.
