New twilight markets are ready to begin

Isis Town and Country - - News -

BACK in April, Childers resident Nathan Friedrich put a post on the Childers Facebook Forum.

“Just throwing it out there, has there ever been or would it be possible for the town to have a farmers market (possibly twilight) in the main street say once a month?” Mr Friedrich said.

“We have so much to offer in the area, though we seem to buy imported produce more than supporting local.”

“Can Childers become a Eumundi market equivalent if we get it right?

“It may be pipe dreaming, though this town has so much more to offer.”

The post received 54 likes and 75 comments, and a small group of enthusiastic volunteers formed a committee which met every fortnight determined to put ideas into action.

Fast-forward to November when the secretary of the Childers Twilight Markets committee posted on the own Facebook page: “Childers Twilight Markets are official – we have just received approval from council.”

The first food, wine and produce markets will be on Friday, November 27, from 5-9pm.

If you are interested in becoming a stall holder and haven’t already registered your interest, email childerstwilightmarket@gmail.com

Childers Twilight Markets are to be held in Millennium Park – a perfect leafy area with a village ambiance.

It’s a great spot to drop in after work on a Friday evening.

Meet up with friends and sample a drop of Childers wine, stock up on produce and stroll through historic Childers by twilight.
