Mobile booster needed
CONCERNED locals of Redridge and the surrounding towns are lobbying for better mobile coverage.
Jennifer Symons raised her concerns after she was left without phone service during the latest storm cell that swept the region.
“I find it incredible in this day and age, we cannot get adequate mobile phone coverage in country areas,” Mrs Symons said.
Mrs Symons said she was told everything would be fixed when the NBN came to the area.
The national broadband network has had a negative reaction by the community as services are not up to speed and the promise of better connection.
“Does someone have to die before action is taken,” she said.
“In the event of an outage we are left with no means of communication at all,” she said.
Areas affected by the poor service include Doolbi, Horton, Goodwood and North Isis, and the locals are fighting for a booster to be placed onto the tower on Knockroe and Goodwood roads.
“We have many elderly people in the area and they need service,” she said.
Mrs Symons said her mobile can’t call SOS as she has no service.
Her aim is for the community to support her campaign to get better coverage in the region.
“Many take for granted mobile coverage – some of us struggle to get anything,” she said.
