Old Bags luncheon
OLD bags will gather at the Bundaberg RSL on November 26 for a women-only lunch in support of the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.
The afternoon will feature auction and raffles as well as plenty of frivolous fun.
Mayoress Joy Forman will host the Old Bags Lunch, which proved to be a hugely successful fundraiser for the Christmas Appeal last year.
“It was an opportunity for ladies to get together, have some light-hearted fun and raise money for a terrific cause,” Mrs Forman said.
The idea of the Old Bags Lunch is to bring along an old handbag that you no longer use or want, to swap with other guests.
The two-course lunch will also feature raffles, with new handbags among the list of prizes.
Mayor Cr Mal Forman said the annual Mayor’s Christmas Appeal raised funds for the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul Society, which provided food vouchers, hampers and toys for the region’s disadvantaged families.
Last year this event proved to be one of the most significant fundraising initiatives for the appeal, raising just under $4000.
If you are unable to attend this event you can still support the appeal by making a donation at any Council Service Centre or Bundaberg branch of Auswide Bank.
The lunch will be held from noon to 2pm on Thursday, November 26.
Tickets include a two-course meal, tea and coffee, and must be pre-purchased by November 20 by phoning 4130 4264, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or head into the council’s Bundaberg administration building at 190 Bourbong St.
