MEMBERS played the November VIP stroke competition sponsored by Phil Pearce, the last for 2015 before the end-of-year play-off – another day when scoring seemed easy for some. In the Men’s A Division Kev Savage won the day with 67 nett from Keith Rule on 69 and Neil Rieck on 70 (on a countback from Phil Luckett and Nigel Radin). Bob Cochrane won B Division with 65 nett from runner-up Ray Burrowes on 68 and Len Stallard on 70 (on a countback from Adrian Martin). Val Plath recorded nett 70 to win the Ladies’ Division from Cynthia Draper (73) and Joan Kelly (74). Col Dennett (0.74m) won the men’s approach on 1 and 10; Cynthia Draper (in the hole) the combined approach on 4 and 13 and the women’s approach (0.49m) on 6 and 15. Ray Burrowes, Bob Cochrane, Peter Withers and Keith Rule (nett 31) led the Chook Run winners from Roger Draper and Phil Luckett (32). In his absence, Phil Pearce earned members’ tributes for his generous prizes and tasty supper. Next week we will enjoy a return to the staple diet of a single stableford.
