Premier’s Reading Challenge certificates for students
THE Premier’s Reading Challenge is an annual initiative for state and non-state schools and home-educated students up to Year 9.
The Premier’s Challenge was designed to encourage students to develop a love of reading for life.
Through the challenge, students are given an opportunity to develop their appreciation of the English language and are encouraged to explore and enjoy a wide range of literary texts.
The students who completed the challenge had their efforts recognised through the receipt of a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier of Queensland.
Almost 70 students at Childers Primary School were awarded their certificates by local MP Stephen Bennett.
Mr Bennett congratulated all the students on their efforts in the challenge.
“It’s a great achievement for all the students involved,” Mr Bennett said.
The school hall was packed, with proud parents all filming their children and celebrating their achievements.
Parents had their iPhone in hand capturing every moment.
Dad of two Brendan Frazer said his kids had made him very proud and it was great to watch.
The musical talents of the school students were impressive.
“I can’t believe how talented all these kids are,” Mr Frazer said.
