Open on Boxing Day
THE National Retail Association’s bid for a one-off amendment to trading hours to stop a four-day closure for major retailers in regional Queensland over the Christmas period has been granted.
The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) handed down its decision to amend the existing rules relating to trading on Sundays and on public holidays for Christmas 2015, to allow major retailers in the areas outlined below, to open on Monday, December 28, from 8am to 5pm.
This decision pertains to the following regional areas of Queensland:
Kingaroy, Warwick, Ayr, Ingham, Goondiwindi, Mt Isa, Charters Towers, Chinchilla, Longreach, Murgon, Roma, Blackwater, Bowen, Childers, Cloncurry, Mission Beach, Pittsworth, Proserpine, Stanthorpe, Weipa.
Childers IGA will only be closed on Christmas Day and will trade as normal on Boxing Day from 6am-8pm.
