Line up to clean up

Isis Town and Country - - Kolan News -

MANY locals from across the region made the most of the council’s free dumping service last weekend.

The free refuse sites over the weekend were an incentive to clean up before storm season hits.

From early morning and before the gates opened, cars lined up ready to unload.

Gin Gin resident Dean Hanrahan joined the long line at Tirroan to dump his rubbish.

“I was surprised to see so many people here,” Mr Hanrahan said.

But the hot day did not flare up anger as many drivers sat in their air-conditioned cars.

“I was only waiting about 10 minutes to get in, it wasn’t too bad,” he said.

The local suggested the council open the free service more often to encourage others to clean up.

“I am getting storm ready at home and cleaning up the property,” he said.

In recent weeks, millions of dollars in storm damage has been recorded in the region.

Mr Hanrahan said the recent storms in the area were reason enough to tidy up his property.
