Shed priorities

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion -

I FIND it incredible that the organisers of the Childers Men’s Shed are willing to accept a short term 10-year lease, to the detriment of high school students. As a 75-year-old supporter of the men’s shed concept, I have serious reservations, when the decision to establish one in Childers interferes with the education of high school students. A well established, successful agricultural program is to be destroyed, in favour of a small group of elderly men. Both the BRC. and the men’s shed organisers are at fault with the decision to locate the shed on land currently used by school students. I have no doubt that in 10 years’ time, at the termination of the lease, the men’s shed will looking for a new home. In the name of common sense, this short-sighted, ridiculous decision has to be reversed. Peter Bonnell Redridge
