THE play-off for the Hon­our of be­ing the Medal of Medal­lists’ win­ner for 2015 proved to be a walk in the park for Clin­ton Dowl­ing, cur­rent Men’s Open Cham­pion. Clin­ton’s 68 bettered par off the stick, win­ning with a nett 65 score. Run­ner-up was Phil Luck­ett with 70 on a count­back from Brett Martell. In the ac­com­pa­ny­ing over­flow com­pe­ti­tion, Leigh Cronin recorded an im­pres­sive nett 64 score with Kev Sav­age run­ner-up on 70. Run­downs went to Peter Steel, Peter Hrelja, Norm Plath and Ken Al­bion. Mark McAu­lay (0.18m) won the B Di­vi­sion ap­proach on 1&10, no A Di­vi­sion player land­ing on the green. Kev Sav­age (0.58m) won the A Di­vi­sion pin­shot on 4&13, with no B Di­vi­sion player find­ing the green. The pre­sen­ta­tion evening proved a great suc­cess, with a strong at­ten­dance, in­clud­ing the ju­niors and their fam­i­lies. All present en­joyed the de­li­cious va­ri­eties of food for sup­per; ap­plauded the win­ners of all the cham­pi­onship awards; ap­pre­ci­ated the hu­mour of Rod Wag­ner’s in­tro­duc­tion for each medal and gob­let win­ner; and were of­ten sur­prised and de­lighted by auc­tion­eer Bill Trevor’s vary­ing means of ex­tract­ing money. Thanks to all in­volved in any of the above ac­tiv­i­ties, par­tic­u­larly to the ladies who or­gan­ised and pre­sented the sup­per, and to our busy bar­tenders. This Satur­day at 11am sharp, we hold our A.G.M. and all mem­bers are urged to at­tend this as al­ways im­por­tant meet­ing of the year, in par­tic­u­lar to elect the in­com­ing Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee. Af­ter the meet­ing, mem­bers are in­vited to com­pete in the tra­di­tional Tiger Sta­ble­ford – choose your part­ner care­fully.
