“Un­like La­bor, the LNP re­fused to walk away from grow­ers and their fun­da­men­tal right to choice in mar­ket­ing.”

Mr Ben­nett said the sugar in­dus­try was vi­tal to the Bund­aberg and Bur­nett re­gion and now had the cer­tainty it de­served.

“The LNP’s amend­ments is about en­sur­ing a de­cent out­come for both grow­ers and millers,” he said.

“Mr Ben­nett said he was dis­ap­pointed the Mem­ber for Bund­aberg didn’t sup­port lo­cal farm­ers.

“The Mem­ber for Bund­aberg had a chance to stick up for her lo­cal farm­er­syet she voted against th­ese amend­ments,” Mr Ben­nett said. MEM­BER for Bur­nett Stephen Ben­nett has stood up for a fair go for farm­ers in the Bund­aberg and Bur­nett dis­trict by vot­ing in sup­port of the LNP’s amend­ments to the Sugar In­dus­try (Real Choice in Mar­ket­ing Amend­ment) Bill.

Mr Ben­nett, who spoke on the bill in State Par­lia­ment this week, said the LNP would con­tinue to sup­port farm­ers to help the sugar in­dus­try reach its full po­ten­tial.

“From day one, my col­leagues and I have been de­ter­mined to en­sure a pos­i­tive out­come for our sugar in­dus­try, and that’s ex­actly what has been achieved,” he said.
