Isis Town and Country - - News -

ON THURSDAY, December 10, 28 members of the Woodgate community attended an excellent talk at the Men’s Shed meeting room.

This was another lecture in the health talk series co-sponsored by the Men’s Shed and Childers Family Medicine.

The guest speaker was third-year medical student Mary Good, who spoke on sleep apnoea, diabetes and the connection between the two.

Many questions were put to Mary and she answered them brilliantly. She outlined alternatives to help avoid or even cure these problems in the long term.

These medical students, hosted by Childers Family Medicine, are part of the John Flynn Placement Program, which encourages medical students to become involved with the local community and eventually become rural doctors.

The next scheduled talk is on January 28 at 10am and again will be delivered by a John Flynn Placement Program medical student.

The speaker will be Hils Yin Choi, also a qualified physiotherapist, and her topic will be joint replacements. This should be of interest to many in our community.

These free talks are a part of the Woodgate Men’s Shed’s commitment to the local community and everyone is invited to attend.

Bring your partner, friends, visitors – all are welcome.
