End of long presidency
THE Gin Gin Hospital Auxiliary farewelled its long-serving president Anne Pearce at a special lunch last Monday at the Starburst restaurant.
Mrs Pearce was the president of the Gin Gin Hospital Auxiliary for 25 years and was a main driving force to the ever growing Gin Gin Hospital.
This year the hospital auxiliary raised a massive $12,000 at its annual Christmas cent sale.
Mrs Pearce said even though she was stepping down as president she still wanted to be part of the auxiliary.
“I have enjoyed my time as the hospital auxiliary president and I have seen great changes to the hospital,” Mrs Pearce said.
Her tireless energy was celebrated with fellow auxiliary members in conjunction with their Christmas party.
The humble volunteer was given a beautiful gold brooch as a token of thanks.
“I thank everyone and all I want to say, I can’t understand why more people don’t join the hospital auxiliary. We all become family and we all support each other,” she said.
The hospital auxiliary relies heavily on donations and charity events.
The team of dedicated volunteers are in search for new members to join and to support their community’s own hospital.
The president position was handed to Kay Hughes and the hospital auxiliary members are excited for the coming year.
Mrs Hughes said she wished Anne well and hoped to fulfil the role as president to the best of her ability.
“The hospital auxiliary are always looking for new members and encourages younger members of the community to join,” Mrs Hughes said.
