Three fugitives are again behind bars after a wild car chase through Gin Gin and Childers :
THREE men accused of escaping lawful custody near Townsville and being involved in a car chase through Gin Gin and Childers last week appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.
Craig Jackson, Claude Cobbo and Jacob Ben Allen are accused of escaping lawful custody at Stuart, near Townsville, on December 30.
They each also face five other charges from New Year’s Eve as they allegedly fled south.
Those charges involve allegedly evading a cab fare in Townsville, unlawfully using a motor vehicle and failing to stop when required by police.
Police told the court the three allegedly failed to pay a fare owed to Townsville Taxi Service, unlawfully used a Kia Cerato without permission from its owner, Dorothy Dehaan, and failed to stop for police in three separate incidents, firstly at Marlborough, north of Rockhampton, then at Bundaberg West and later at Doolbi, near Childers.
Jackson’s case was adjourned to February 1.
Cobbo and Allen were remanded to appear again in Gympie Magistrates Court next Monday. They will appear in Gympie by video link.
