ARE you civic-minded, proud of your com­mu­nity or take a keen in­ter­est in lo­cal events?

Would you like to help shape the fu­ture di­rec­tion of your shire, re­gion or city?

Now is the time to nom­i­nate for elec­tion as mayor or coun­cil­lor for your re­gion at the lo­cal govern­ment elec­tions to be held on March 19.

The Depart­ment of In­fra­struc­ture, Lo­cal Govern­ment and Plan­ning will be con­duct­ing a se­ries of sem­i­nars for in­tend­ing can­di­dates to pro­vide de­tailed in­for­ma­tion on be­com­ing a coun­cil­lor in lo­cal govern­ment.

One of the ways in which res­i­dents can par­tic­i­pate in mu­nic­i­pal affairs is by at­tend­ing their lo­cal coun­cil’s meet­ing.

Meet­ings of the coun­cil form an in­te­gral part of the plan­ning, pol­icy and de­ci­sion-mak­ing process.

The coun­cil’s briefing meet­ings are held ev­ery third Wed­nes­day, start­ing at 9am.

Or­di­nary meet­ings of the coun­cil are held ev­ery third Tues­day, start­ing at 10am.

Plan­ning Com­mit­tee meet­ings are held ev­ery third Tues­day, start­ing at the con­clu­sion of the Or­di­nary Meet­ing

Meet­ings are held in the Coun­cil Cham­bers, 190 Bour­bong St, Bund­aberg, and are open to mem­bers of the pub­lic.
