A few dedicated players managed to attend all competitions with many excellent scores recorded. In the past two games a number of players bettered par in the single bbb stableford competition. On Saturday, Jack Cole surprised with 41 points, followed by Michael Stanton, Dave Robinson (39), Vicki McAulay (37) and Craig Reynolds (36). On Tuesday, Dave Robinson went one better with 40 points from Terry Smallman, Mark McAulay (39) and Michael Stanton (38). Opening day for the official 2016 season is fast approaching, the competition being sponsored again by Peter and Narelle Russo – last year we opened with a two-person Ambrose, and will confirm the competition in the next issue. Thanks again to Town & Country for their continuing support over so many years. It is our hope that the members can look forward to another productive and successful season of competitive golf.

HAPPY new year to everyone as the first competition for the year got under way. We had 16 players turn up to a beautiful morning of front nine stroke and putt golf. Today was also the first day for the new committee to cut their teeth and thankfully everything ran smoothly. The winner for the day was Michael Stanton making, an A-grade comeback with a net score of 31 losing 3.1 from his handicap. Second on a countback with a net score of 32 was “I never win nothing” Lenny Stallard, losing 2.1 from his handicap, with third place going to Bill Kirkhhof, losing 1.7 from his handicap. The least puts on the day went to Paul McCarragher with 12 putts. B-grade approach on the first went to Marg Dennett, Combined nearest the pin on the 6th went to Sue Long, B grade longest drive went to Domonic Mete and finally the nearest the pin on the 4th was won by Rob Blows, who currently holds the golden circle distance being 3.940m. Next week we will be playing our yearly two-person ambrose game, where the winners’ names will go onto a trophy, the social members voted that we play this game over 18 holes being one of our yearly prestigious events, tee off will be at 7.30am. This year we have decide to mix the weekly prizes up a little bit plus we added a new challenge. I can’t tell you what that challenge is because no-one has come up with a name for it yet but if you turn up next week you’ll be sure to find out. Visitors and new members are always welcome, come along test the water and have an enjoyable morning out.
