Celebrate great nation
Aussie Day festivities
CHILDERS and its surrounding regions are areas that sure know how to celebrate and Australia Day is no exception.
Celebrated on January 26, Australia Day is a chance to remember what it is that makes being Australian great and just have a fabulous time being a part of a local community.
In Childers on Australia Day the focus is on the Australia Day Quiet Achievers Awards and Family Picnic Day.
Visitors are encouraged to head to the Isis District State High School Stadium from 7.30am with a gold coin donation and enjoy a delicious breakfast hosted by the Childers QCWA.
While being a chance for the local community to get together and enjoy Australia Day, it also reminds people about the Queensland Country Women’s Association.
Women from all walks of life are members who join for vastly different reasons – from meeting people, learning new skills to getting involved in the community, and some are even introduced by their mums as children.
The QCWA means something different to everyone and what bonds members is friendship and their strong desire to help others because each branch decides what activities to get involved in, paying particular attention to local community needs and member interest.
Buxton will not be forgotten this Australia Day either, with the Buxton Rural Fire Brigade hosting its annual Big Aussie Day Brekky, which has a tonne of food, music, games and more. Held from 7am, it is a chance for everyone to get together and celebrate on the Buxton Foreshore, which is a great place for families.
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE: Australia Day is a great chance to celebrate as a community.
