New year for golf

Isis Town and Country - - Sport -

WELCOME to 2016 at Isis Golf Club, a social and friendly place to have a round of golf.

The social club welcomes new members, whatever grade you are.

“You don’t all have to be Tiger Woods,” said Club Captain Leigh Hart.

All the members help each other out with the local rules as well as the rules of the sanctioned golf.

The first Sunday of each month the club holds Mug day, the overall winner receives an engraved mug which goes to a point score for an end of the year trophy.

This day is an 18-hole event. At each mug day, a lunch is provided.

On other Sunday mornings they play a leisurely nine-hole event.

For a small donation you can start the day with an egg and bacon sandwich with the funds going back to the club.

The yearly fees are possibly the lowest you will come across.

You only need to play one day a week to recover the cost.

The club would like to mention some of its most valued sponsors who have offered to support individual days of golf.

Bill Long Club Cars, Bill Kirchhof Plastering and Bob and Rose Cochrane are just a few.

The golf club appreciates the support of the volunteers who each week put in the extra effort to ensure the ongoing success of the club.

The greens and fairways are all cared for by volunteers as well as the bar which exemplifies the passion of the people looking after the course.

The club also thanks the outgoing social club committee and congratulates members on the great job that they have done and acknowledges the high level of commitment they have displayed in the past year.
