Childers Show: 2016 Isis District P.A & I Society Miss Showgirl Quest set to shine in Childers
THE Childers Miss Showgirl Quest has a short history dating back to 2013 and interest levels have exceeded expectations each year.
This year marks 100 years for the Childers Show. The show will again host many great events including the 2016 Isis District PA & I Society Quest.
Childers Miss Showgirl competition co-ordinator Vader-Ann Wegner said this year marks a massive milestone for the show and its organisers.
“I encourage every young lady around the region to enter,” Ms Wegner said.
“It is a great opportunity to get involved in the show and to become more involved in the community.
“You must have some knowledge about your local community,” she said.
The competition aims to find a young female Ambassador (Junior 14-17, senior 18-28) to represent their local show and the agricultural show movement.
“The Showgirl Competition is definitely not a beauty pageant,” Ms Wegner said.
Entrants must have a genuine interest in, and knowledge of their local community.
Contestants are judged on personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation and speech.
The quest finalists must also demonstrate knowledge of current affairs.
“Being a Showgirl requires being actively involved in the local show – presenting prizes, sashing livestock, generally being in the public eye, mingling with the crowd and help getting potential entrants for the following year’s competition,” Ms Wegner said.
The show will be celebrating a milestone in Childers’ growing history.
