True mul­ti­cul­tural cham­pion

MON­INA Davis is a found­ing mem­ber of the Isis Mul­ti­cul­tural Group Inc and has been trea­surer of that group for many of its 20 years; she also chore­ographs the dance for the club which goes to mul­ti­cul­tural fes­ti­vals and many schools in this area. She at­tends many fes­ti­vals to show­case Filipino food and cul­ture in Bund­aberg, Mary­bor­ough and many other ru­ral towns into the Bur­nett area. She was a vol­un­teer at the Childers Neigh­bour­hood Cen­tre for many years be­fore be­ing em­ployed by the man­age­ment.

Mon­ina opens her prop­erty to the fruit hor­ti­cul­tural group to share her knowl­edge on grow­ing fruit trees from her na­tive coun­try. She also gives her time willingly to help new mi­grants who have moved to this area to set­tle in. She was in­volved with the talk­ing news­pa­per for many years at the QCWA cot­tages.

SE­NIOR CI­TI­ZEN OF THE YEAR: Mon­ina Davis is awarded for her tire­less ef­fort in the com­mu­nity by Rosie Shut­tle­wood.
