A passion for her community
VADER-ANN Wegner finished Grade 12 last year at Isis District State High School.
She achieved the results required to be offered a position to study for a Bachelor of Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
She leaves this Friday to start her studies.
Vader-Ann represented the school and community at events such as Anzac Day.
She received many awards during her school years such as merit awards, certificates of recognition, Year 10 Agricultural Award, academic awards, Year 11 top of subject for Rural Operations award and many more; culminating with the $500 bursary given by The Childers and District Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association.
She threw herself into the fundraising event for the Miss Showgirl competition.
Vader-ann was elected by the show society to take on the role of the Miss Showgirl co-ordinating.
She fulfilled this role together with completing her secondary schooling, working part-time as a front-end supervisor at the local IGA and fundraising at the Isis Bowls Club, the Apple Tree Creek Markets and other ongoing raffles for significant events.
The role of co-ordinating Miss Showgirl requires extensive time, commitment, passion, effort, and hard work.
Her responsibility included organising events such as the Miss Showgirl Community High Tea and the Show Ball.
As part of her role, she was required to reach out to younger ladies and get them involved with the competition, and communicate with local businesses and identities to gain sponsorship and prizes for the different raffles and fundraising.
She also runs the local show’s Facebook page and has the responsibility of advertising the Miss Showgirl competition and other upcoming show events.
JUNIOR CITIZEN: Miss Vader-Ann Wegner was presented with her certificate by Rosie Shuttlewood.
