A pas­sion for her com­mu­nity

VADER-ANN Weg­ner fin­ished Grade 12 last year at Isis District State High School.

She achieved the re­sults re­quired to be of­fered a po­si­tion to study for a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence at the Univer­sity of the Sun­shine Coast.

She leaves this Fri­day to start her stud­ies.

Vader-Ann rep­re­sented the school and com­mu­nity at events such as An­zac Day.

She re­ceived many awards dur­ing her school years such as merit awards, cer­tifi­cates of recog­ni­tion, Year 10 Agri­cul­tural Award, aca­demic awards, Year 11 top of sub­ject for Ru­ral Op­er­a­tions award and many more; cul­mi­nat­ing with the $500 bur­sary given by The Childers and District Fruit and Veg­etable Grow­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion.

She threw her­self into the fundrais­ing event for the Miss Show­girl com­pe­ti­tion.

Vader-ann was elected by the show so­ci­ety to take on the role of the Miss Show­girl co-or­di­nat­ing.

She ful­filled this role to­gether with com­plet­ing her sec­ondary school­ing, work­ing part-time as a front-end su­per­vi­sor at the lo­cal IGA and fundrais­ing at the Isis Bowls Club, the Ap­ple Tree Creek Mar­kets and other on­go­ing raf­fles for sig­nif­i­cant events.

The role of co-or­di­nat­ing Miss Show­girl re­quires ex­ten­sive time, com­mit­ment, pas­sion, ef­fort, and hard work.

Her re­spon­si­bil­ity in­cluded or­gan­is­ing events such as the Miss Show­girl Com­mu­nity High Tea and the Show Ball.

As part of her role, she was re­quired to reach out to younger ladies and get them in­volved with the com­pe­ti­tion, and com­mu­ni­cate with lo­cal busi­nesses and iden­ti­ties to gain spon­sor­ship and prizes for the dif­fer­ent raf­fles and fundrais­ing.

She also runs the lo­cal show’s Face­book page and has the re­spon­si­bil­ity of ad­ver­tis­ing the Miss Show­girl com­pe­ti­tion and other up­com­ing show events.
