Tee­ing off for new year

ISIS Golf Club cap­tains Larry Per­shouse and Joan Kelly were de­lighted to wel­come so many mem­bers and vis­i­tors to be­gin the golf­ing year.

Club stal­wart and cur­rent Men’s Open Cham­pion and Medal of Medal­lists win­ner Clin­ton Dowl­ing ex­e­cuted a su­perb drive off num­ber one tee to be­gin the year and start off the two-per­son am­brose event.

Clin­ton and part­ner Wil­liam Gal­way then pro­ceeded to power around the course, record­ing a 59 nett score to win the golfer/ golfer com­pe­ti­tion by a large mar­gin from run­ner­sup Stephen Cole and Trevor Page, se­cond on count­back from Kev Sav­age and Len Stal­lard.

Peter Hrelja and Leo Ric­cia­rdi won the golfer/ non-golfer com­pe­ti­tion from He­len Ric­cia­rdi and Mer­ryn Henke.

The free mem­ber­ship went to Mar­lena Sch­lechtrien, who prom­ises to com­pete reg­u­larly.

Mem­bers en­joyed the af­ter-game snacks pro­vided by reg­u­lar spon­sors Peter and Narelle Russo, who also sup­plied the ma­jor prizes.

Some mem­bers also brought plates – much ap­pre­ci­ated.

Mem­bers agreed it was an en­joy­able way to be­gin the sea­son.
