Mo­torist dies in fiery crash at Biggen­den

A CRASH at Biggen­den has claimed the life of a per­son in the early hours of Satur­day morn­ing.

Po­lice have con­firmed the wild weather was not a fac­tor in the fiery crash, which killed the driver.

Biggen­den Po­lice of­fi­cer-in-charge Sergeant Colin Cham­bers said the driver lost con­trol on the Isis Hwy about 2am.

“They were trav­el­ling north to­wards Biggen­den when they lost con­trol, veered off the road and struck some trees, where it has caught alight,” he said.

A Queens­land Fire and Emer­gency spokesman said the ve­hi­cle was en­gulfed in flames when crews ar­rived.

Due to the na­ture of the per­son’s in­juries, po­lice have not yet been able to iden­tify who has died. Po­lice have con­firmed the mo­torist was the only oc­cu­pant.

The Foren­sic Crash Unit is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cause of the crash.
