Motorist dies in fiery crash at Biggenden
A CRASH at Biggenden has claimed the life of a person in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police have confirmed the wild weather was not a factor in the fiery crash, which killed the driver.
Biggenden Police officer-in-charge Sergeant Colin Chambers said the driver lost control on the Isis Hwy about 2am.
“They were travelling north towards Biggenden when they lost control, veered off the road and struck some trees, where it has caught alight,” he said.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said the vehicle was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
Due to the nature of the person’s injuries, police have not yet been able to identify who has died. Police have confirmed the motorist was the only occupant.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE: The driver, who died in the accident on the Isis Hwy, was the only occupant of the vehicle.
