Man stabbed af­ter dis­turb­ing in­truder

PO­LICE are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a man was stabbed dur­ing a break-in at his home in Be­naraby on Tues­day af­ter­noon.

About 4.40pm, a 55-year-old man re­turned to his home on the Bruce Hwy to find an­other man in­side.

The man con­fronted the in­truder and a phys­i­cal al­ter­ca­tion broke out in which the 55-year-old re­ceived stab wounds to his hands, shoul­der and head.

He was taken to Gladstone Hos­pi­tal with non-life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

Po­lice be­lieve the of­fender fled the scene south on the Bruce Hwy in a car which had been stolen from Rock­hamp­ton ear­lier in the day.

The car may have been the same one in­volved in a crash ear­lier in the day.
