Sweetener for voters

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion -

AFTER reading the paper it appears Bill Louden and G. Ferguson totally agree that the present councillors need to be given the “flick”. As a sweetener for us poor voters I wonder if any of the up and coming batch of hopefuls will tantalise us with some promises of importance like ... I (so and so) will not take the obscene amount of money currently given to the incumbents already in the job, and I will actually do the job that I was elected to do. Ah, what a pipe dream. Maybe the rules also need to be changed to prohibit any ownership of any business by councillors, then there can be no suggestion of “rorting”. Besides, how can anybody run a business and do the job of councillor at the same time? One or the other has to suffer and I would not like to see the ratepayer get shafted any more, eh?
