OVER the weekend, 35 local athletes represented the Isis District Little Athletics Centre at the Central Coast Regional Championships held in Bundaberg.

The squad performed very well despite preparations being disrupted by weather in recent weeks.

The highlight of the weekend came in the under 10s boys 800-metre race where Isis claimed all three medals.

Joey Vella led from start to finish with a dominant run and was then followed across the line by team mates James Duguid and Isaiah McLaren-Gates.

Shot put coach Justin Lewis can be very proud of his throwers with Jackson Rehbein, Abbie Garrison and Matt Haaksma all claiming gold medals.

Luke Adamson ran a very strong race in the 400 metres, clocking a time of 1.10.0, only 1.4 second outside the regional record. Danielle Adamson showed great skill in discus to win the gold medal.

Lily Vella continued to shine with five medals from five events.

She will now start preparing for the Queensland Championships in March.

It is expected that many of her club mates will also be selected to compete in Brisbane next month.
