Riders on track for first race of season
LOOKING for some dirt action this weekend?
Some of the state’s best riders will converge on Hervey Bay’s motocross track this Sunday for the first race of the local club’s season.
The club is anticipating a big turnout this meet, ahead of next month’s first round of the Shell Advance Sunshine State series, which is being held on the local sand track.
“Last year we had about 130 riders prior to the Shell so we believe it will be about the same this Sunday,” the club’s spokeswoman said.
“Most riders like to get a bit of practice in on the tracks before they race on it at the Shells.”
The Shell Advance Sunshine State series draws riders from all over the state, New South Wales and interstate and will be held on March 12–13.
Nominations are open for this event via www.nominate.com.au.
The club is also hosting a round of the Go Girls Australia series on April 2–3 and it has been confirmed this week the club has secured the last round of the Queensland titles on August 13–14.
“This is a great coup for the club and the local area to be able to host the final round of the Queensland titles at our home track.
“Usually about 350 riders take part and they bring their families and support crew, so this will be great for everyone.”
Local riders are welcome this Sunday.
Sign-on starts from 7.30am and racing from 9am. All riders must provide a volunteer to help on Sunday for about one hour. The club is holding a working bee on Saturday.
