First-class play­ground for kids

STAGE two of the Gin Gin Recre­ation Re­serve upgrade will soon be un­der way, de­liv­er­ing first-class recre­ational fa­cil­i­ties to the com­mu­nity.

Site prepa­ra­tion works are ex­pected to start in com­ing weeks with build­ing of the new play­ground fa­cil­i­ties to be­gin in early March, weather per­mit­ting.

A coun­cil spokesper­son said the pro­ject in­cluded a play­ground, two pic­nic shel­ters and bar­be­cue fa­cil­i­ties.

“Younger res­i­dents will en­joy this area which will in­clude the in­stal­la­tion of a 40m fly­ing fox, a tower slide as well as play fa­cil­i­ties suited to younger chil­dren,” the spokesper­son said.

“This will com­ple­ment the ex­ist­ing fa­cil­i­ties within the recre­ation re­serve, which al­ready fea­tures a skate bowl, and en­sure the park of­fers some­thing for chil­dren of all ages.”

The pro­ject, bud­geted at $200,000, will be un­der­taken by lo­cal com­mer­cial play­ground man­u­fac­turer Willplay and is ex­pected to be com­pleted in April, weather per­mit­ting.

Stage one of the upgrade in­cluded the in­stal­la­tion of shade sails over the skate bowl area.
