Call council if you see a safety risk

Isis Town and Country - - News -

WHEN out and about in Childers, making a quick pit stop into the Millennium Park public toilets is an adventure for many families with young ones in tow.

The park is popular with tourists and has plenty of shade and grassed areas to picnic on. The tranquil park also hosts many great events, including the recent Twilight Markets.

But social media lit up last Friday when a local resident posted a photo of an overflowing sharps container on the wall of the parents’ room.

A council spokesman said staff were made aware of this discussion on Facebook, with the incident later reported through official channels.

The spokesman said the Millennium Park toilet facility was cleaned daily and residents were encouraged to immediately report safety concerns to the council by phoning 1300 883 699.

“Residents are encouraged to immediately report any concerns of this nature to council as the safe disposal of syringes is dealt with as a matter of priority,” he said.
