51 PBs set by athletes
THE smoke drifting across the showgrounds from the controlled burn at the primary school on Friday night was no deterrent for the 61 athletes and their quest to achieve as many personal bests as possible.
A total of 51 PBs were recorded, with brother and sister Dan (U6) and Amber (U10) Bauer both recording personal bests in all of their four events.
Their PB tally was closely followed by U8 Elijah Mclaren Gates and U15 Joseph Thurlow with 3 apiece.
Most personal bests, 30, came on the track.
Improvements ranged from 0.1sec to a massive 18.6sec by U9 Natalyia Mcauley when she crossed the 400m finish line in 1:54.9.
Track events may have scooped the PB numbers but it was in field events where the athletes shone.
Personal bests in the field events were:
U6 D Bauer +20cm long jump; +60cm shot put
U7 S Bassett +1.43m discus throw
U8 J Smith +1.28m discus throw
U8 M Ebert +2.22m discus throw
