Her­itage grants avail­able to groups and or­gan­i­sa­tions

AP­PLI­CA­TIONS for Com­mu­nity Her­itage Grants are now open, Shadow Min­is­ter for Her­itage Pro­tec­tion and Mem­ber for Bur­nett Stephen Ben­nett an­nounced.

Mr Ben­nett said the pro­gram of­fered grants of up to $15,000 to as­sist in preserving cul­tural her­itage col­lec­tions of na­tional sig­nif­i­cance.

“I en­cour­age not-for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tions such as his­tor­i­cal so­ci­eties, re­gional mu­se­ums, pub­lic li­braries and in­dige­nous and mi­grant com­mu­nity groups to ap­ply for the grant,” he said.

Mr Ben­nett said the fed­er­ally funded grants pro­gram sup­ported a wide range of ac­tiv­i­ties, such as con­ser­va­tion ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing clean­ing, treat­ment or re­bind, the pur­chase and in­stal­la­tion of en­vi­ron­men­tal con­trol and mon­i­tor equip­ment, cat­a­logu­ing or col­lec­tion man­age­ment soft­ware, and the preser­va­tion needs as­sess­ment of col­lec­tions.
