Historical society needs volunteers
EVERY Saturday morning the hard-working and dedicated team of volunteers fire up the BBQ Hut at the Gin Gin Historical Society markets and museum.
The sweet smell of the Hut draws in the early-morning crowd in search of breakfast.
Secretary of the markets and museum Hetty Mois said they were in desperate need of more volunteers.
“If we don’t get more staff to help out on Saturday morning, the markets will only be on once a month,” she said.
The Gin Gin markets are busy every weekend and the BBQ Hut is the first stop for many.
“Our team is on the go from the moment the market opens,” Hetty said.
“I am currently unemployed and have spent the past two years working as a volunteer for the markets and museum.
“I am hoping others will support us as we struggle to have enough staff for the job.”
The volunteers are friendly and are welcoming to new volunteers.
“We offer all our volunteers at the BBQ Hut a free breakfast and two free drinks,” Hetty said.
The community-run markets need the support of locals.
The friendly volunteers enjoys the busy mornings.
