Club mem­bers suc­cess­ful at gain­ing their black belts

TSKF Childers Karate Club is cel­e­brat­ing gain­ing six new 1st Dan black belts, namely Jodie Fitz-Gib­bon, Ja­son Dyer, Fiona Dyer, Cheyenne Welch, Ma­son Hay­den and Do­minik Suen­der­mann, and also a new 2nd Dan black belt in Brooke Fitz-Gib­bon.

On Fe­bru­ary 20–21, the club also had 23 Kyu ranked mem­bers par­tic­i­pate in three train­ing ses­sions and graded un­der the TSKF chief in­struc­tor Taka­hashi Shi­han, 9th Dan from Ja­pan, with all mem­bers do­ing very well and com­ing up the ranks.

This week we have 13 mem­bers trav­el­ling to Morn­ing­ton Penin­sula, just out­side of Mel­bourne to at­tend the TSKF Karate Na­tional Cham­pi­onships.

Club in­struc­tor John Russo said he was very pleased to have such a large con­tin­gent travel to the Na­tion­als and rep­re­sent­ing our com­mu­nity.

This week will also be ter­rific prepa­ra­tion for Brooke and Kate Fitz-Gib­bon, who have been se­lected to the Na­tional Team to rep­re­sent Aus­tralia at the ISKF Karate World Cup to be held in South Africa in Au­gust.

The girls are cur­rently fundrais­ing to as­sist with ex­penses for the event.

This year has seen many fresh new faces to our Karate 4 Kids Class with up to 15 new mem­bers at­tend­ing one week.

The new year is the per­fect time for begin­ners to start out on their karate jour­ney, and we wel­come mem­bers of all ages.
