Club members successful at gaining their black belts
TSKF Childers Karate Club is celebrating gaining six new 1st Dan black belts, namely Jodie Fitz-Gibbon, Jason Dyer, Fiona Dyer, Cheyenne Welch, Mason Hayden and Dominik Suendermann, and also a new 2nd Dan black belt in Brooke Fitz-Gibbon.
On February 20–21, the club also had 23 Kyu ranked members participate in three training sessions and graded under the TSKF chief instructor Takahashi Shihan, 9th Dan from Japan, with all members doing very well and coming up the ranks.
This week we have 13 members travelling to Mornington Peninsula, just outside of Melbourne to attend the TSKF Karate National Championships.
Club instructor John Russo said he was very pleased to have such a large contingent travel to the Nationals and representing our community.
This week will also be terrific preparation for Brooke and Kate Fitz-Gibbon, who have been selected to the National Team to represent Australia at the ISKF Karate World Cup to be held in South Africa in August.
The girls are currently fundraising to assist with expenses for the event.
This year has seen many fresh new faces to our Karate 4 Kids Class with up to 15 new members attending one week.
The new year is the perfect time for beginners to start out on their karate journey, and we welcome members of all ages.
