Supporting clown doctors charity event
THE Clown Doctors is a not-for-profit organisation that treats sick kids in hospital with a different kind of medicine – fun and laughter.
CommBank branches across Australia will be raising funds in the lead up to the Clown Doctors national day of fundraising, Smile Day, on April 1.
Donations to the Clown Doctors can be made at any CommBank Bank branch throughout April or online at commbank.com.au/clowndoctors.
Debbie Neilson, Childers CommBank Branch manager, said the bank had been supporting the Clown Doctors for more than 17 years.
“Through our fundraising day, we hope to help the Clown Doctors achieve their goal of conducting more Clown Rounds in hospitals,” Ms Neilson said.
“We encourage local residents to come into the branch, share some laughs and make a donation.”
Clown Doctors CEO Melinda Farrell said being in hospital brought with it a range of emotions.
“We aim to share a dose of laughter with kids to help them through this difficult time,” she said.
“Laughter is scientifically proven to have a positive benefit on the immune system and reduce stress and pain.
“We’d like to thank the Childers CommBank branch and those in the local community for their continued support.
“Your generosity will help put smiles on thousands of children’s faces.”
