MEN

MEM­BERS en­joyed the club spon­sored sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day. Ivan Philpott and Ki­eth Rule both recorded 40 points, with Ivan win­ning on a count­back. Phil Luck­ett was third with 37 points, also on a count­back from Mark McAu­lay who led the run­downs, fol­lowed by Craig Reynolds, Clin­ton Dowl­ing (36) and La­zlo Vol­gyesi (35). Nigel Radin (3.88m) with his first shot of the day placed it close to win the A Divi­sion pin­shot on 1&10, with Ivan Philpott (1.1m) win­ning the B Divi­sion ap­proach. Clin­ton Dowl­ing (1.79m) won the A Divi­sion pin­shot on 4&13, with no B Divi­sion player putting his drive on the green. This week­end a packed pro­gram, with the 3-Per­son Am­brose on Satur­day spon­sored by the Isis Mill Traders (be there by 11am for an early start). On Sun­day it is our Isis Men’s Open Day spon­sored by a strong peren­nial sup­porter in House of Golf, many thanks from our club mem­bers. Shot­gun starts at 7.30am and 12.15pm – please nom­i­nate no later than Thurs­day.

WOMEN

KERRY Sch­nack con­tin­ues her win­ning run on Thurs­days with her 38 sta­ble­ford points plac­ing Joy Cart­ner se­cond on 35 points. Run­downs went to Co­ralie Vol­gyesi (34) and Vicki McAu­lay (33). Mar­garet Den­nett (0.16m) won the ap­proach. Next Thurs­day ladies will play a sin­gle stroke round. Ladies’ cap­tain Joan Kelly recorded 39 points to win the club-spon­sored sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion on Satur­day, from Cyn­thia Draper on 37 points. Vicki McAu­lay (31) won a run­down. Mar­lene Sch­lechtriem (0.68m) won the ladies’ ap­proach on 4&13. Birdies on num­ber one were recorded by: Cyn­thia, Co­ralie, Vicki Mc, Mon­ica and Joan K – clever in­dex­ing! Next Satur­day we play in the 3-Per­son Am­brose on the Isis Mill Traders’ Day – be there with your team by 11am for an early start.

THE Rusty Us­mar spon­sored V.I.P. Monthly Stroke com­pe­ti­tion drew a large field with some top scores lead­ing the field. In Men’s A Divi­sion, Nigel Radin recorded 65 nett to win com­fort­ably from Phil Luck­ett on 70, se­cond on a count­back from Kev Sav­age. John Hen­der­son won B Divi­sion with 65 nett also, from Ray Bur­rowes on 70 and Kev Den­ham on 71. Mar­lene Sch­lechtriem scored 69 nett to win her first Isis com­ple­tion com­fort­ably from Marg Den­nett on 73, with Cyn­thia Draper third on a count­back from Robyn Robin­son. The ap­proach win­ners on 1&10 were: John Hen­der­son (i.t.h.), Ray Bur­rowes (i.t.h.), and Cyn­thia Draper (1.67m); on 4&13, Nigel Radin (i.t.h.), Vin Kennedy (0.87m), and Robyn Robin­son (0.685m); on 6&15, Clin­ton Dowl­ing (0.26m), Cyn­thia Draper (0.057m). John Hen­der­son (31 nett) again led the Chook Run win­ners fol­lowed by Kev Sav­age, Marg Den­nett (32), Phil Luck­ett, Nigel Radin and Ed Con­nell (33). Next week we re­turn to the sin­gle sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion. Hit off at noon.

SO­CIAL

A STA­BLE­FORD on the front nine was played by 24 golfers on Sun­day, March 13. Once again it was good weather for golf. The win­ner for the day was Bob Chap­ney who came in with an im­pres­sive 22 and loses 3.1 from his hand­i­cap. Se­cond place went to Len Stal­lard on 20, los­ing 2 strokes, with third place go­ing to Terry Small­man on 19 and he loses .8 from his hand­i­cap. It was good to see Adam Smith win a ball tak­ing out the B-Grade ap­proach on the 1st with Len Stal­lard win­ning a ball for the pin shot on the 4th. The golden cir­cle cur­rently re­mains at 2.08m held by Nigel Ison. The com­bined near­est the pin on the 6th was won by Marg Den­nett who also took out the cen­ter fair­way shot with the com­bined long­est drive go­ing to Terry Small­man. Next week we play our first away game for the year at Co­ral Cove; this will be a two per­son Am­brose event, with tee off at 7.30am. We ask ev­ery­one to be there by 7am to give us time to or­ga­nize the teams. The fol­low­ing week we will be back at the Isis golf course for a 7.30am tee off.
