IsisWar Memorial Pool celebrates 50 years

Isis Town and Country - - News -

AS SUMMER comes to an end and the swimming pool winds down its events for another season, the pool staff are planning a special celebration.

This year the IsisWar Memorial Pool turns 50.

Pool manager Mike Roberts said they would hold two family BBQ at the Beach fun days as part of the celebrations.

“We are lucky enough to have our own concrete “beach” in the middle of our main street,” Mr Roberts said.

Dates to remember are April 10 and April 17. Entry is free on both days and many kiosk items are discounted.

Adding to the fun this year is a jumping castle.

“All you have to bring is meat for the barbecue, swim wear, a towel, the kids and a smile,” he said.

“On these days we will also be inviting the youth of Childers to challenge themselves with free, one-hour, boot-camp-style exercise sessions,”

These sessions are specifically for school children and young adults from seven years to 17 years of age.

“Fitness exercises should be a challenge but the balance components will be hilarious and fun,” Mr Roberts said.

Later this year, when the pool re-opens, the Isis District Swimming Club is planning a huge local carnival day, involving swimming club members, swimmers from local schools and some from our region’s smaller clubs.

“This year will be a real celebration of our pool and we all look forward to the next 50-years,” Mr Roberts said.
