Election a busy weekend

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion - Jodie Dixon Reporter jodie.dixon@isistcnews.com.au

WHAT a massive weekend across the region.

Firstly congratulations to all the candidates of Division 2 and mayoral candidates Troy Madle and Elise Cottam for all their efforts to be elected.

You have all worked hard and played a fair campaign.

I would like to wish you all the best as the count is currently still in full swing. It’s not over until the last vote is counted.

Sadly this week news had spread of the passing of one of Childers’ much loved characters, Mike “Cookie” Cook.

I would like to send my condolences to the Cook family. Chris, I am sorry to hear of the passing of the love of your life and the entire community is with you in this time of sadness. I wish you all well.

This week was once again busy for me.

Well done to Rhy Baker on her award, you do a great job for the community and I want to say thank you for everything you do for the cadets in our region, keep up the great work.

Tuesday morning the Childers branch of the APSL organised a guest speaker, Constable Adrian Smith to address the 50-strong crowds on personal and online safety for seniors.

It was eye opening and we all should be more aware on scams and how to protect ourselves.

Another person worth congratulating is John Cottam on his appointment as the Childers SES local controller, well done.

As a member of the Gin Gin SES I want to personally thank you for all the support you and your team have given to us over the years. I wish you all the best and I know you will continue the great work and high standards you set.

Let us know at Town and Country your coming events. Stay safe Childers.

It’s not over until the last vote is counted.
