Crowd heads to fair

Isis Town and Country - - Opinion - Jodie Dixon Reporter jodie.dixon@isistcnews.com.au

I HOPE everyone had a great Easter and made the most of the long weekend.

The region had perfect weather for the Woodgate Easter Fair. Well, sort of. The mild rain didn’t stop locals and visitors from making the most of the day.

Thank you to Woodgate Community Events for once again putting on a spectacular event. I am more impressed each year as the event is getting bigger and more people are visiting from across the region and state. Organisers should be proud and well done to the dedicated team of hardworking volunteers who worked tirelessly leading up to the event and crawled out of bed before dawn to set up for the fabulous day.

It was a very quiet morning around Childers on Monday when I arrived at work; I had the town to myself, that’s what it felt like, with the odd car and truck cruising through town.

I headed out to Woodgate early, only to see many familiar faces in the crowd. It seems many of the Childers locals decided to spend the day in Woodgate as well, which was great to see.

Next on the calendar is the Isis District Show, set to celebrate a massive milestone of 100 years.

The show society organiser has great plans for this year’s event and is encouraging the community to get involved. The event continues to grow and more visitors are drawn to the area.

Also gearing up for a big party is Booyal Central State School.

They will also be celebrating 100 years later this year.

Keep an eye out for further information as the date draws closer.
