Fun of the fair
Thousands gather in Woodgate for fun, food and entertainment to celebrate the Easter longweekend
EASTER was celebrated at the annual Woodgate fair, with thousands of people enjoying the great weather and excitement of the markets.
Visitors made the most of the long weekend by filling all camping grounds, hotels and motels around town.
It was a struggle to find a car park near the markets as families were left to park in the side streets of Woodgate.
Event organisers took to social media encouraging locals and visitors to Woodgate over the weekend.
Woodgate Community Events volunteer Daphne Brettell said it was one of the biggest Easter events around the region and each year the event continued to grow.
“The earlier sprinkle of rain didn’t stop families from strolling around enjoying all the tasty treats,” Mrs Brettell said.
Woodgate Community Events organisers had been busy leading up to the long weekend as there had been more interest from stall holders.
“We have received great support from the council and the Woodgate community,” she said.
“Every year the event is growing and we hope it continues to get bigger.
“It’s a long day for the organisers and volunteers, but it is all worth it when you see the smiling faces,” she said.
