Four vehicles in crash
LAST Monday morning emergency services from Childers, Howard and Maryborough were called to a traffic accident involving four vehicles on the Bruce Hwy south of Childers.
Captain Tim Bunn of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said there were no serious injuries.
“There were minor delays for motorists in the Cherwell River area as crews cleaned up the highway,” Mr Bunn said.
The highway was reduced to a single lane as crews quickly cleaned up the scene.
Two vehicles were towed away from the scene of the accident as the damage was extensive.
“It’s a reminder for motorists to pay attention in areas with roadworks,” Captain Bunn said. “It is easy for drivers to get distracted behind the wheel.
“As the school holidays continue drivers need to be more aware of their surroundings as there is an increase of traffic on our roads,” he said.
The Bruce Hwy continues to get upgrades and millions of dollars are invested into making Queensland roads safer.
Police are investigating the cause of Monday’s incident and asks motorists to be more cautious in roadwork zones.
This weekend our roads will experience an increase in traffic as the school holidays end.
